The list of influences and comparisons is telling: Cerebral Ballzy, Blacklisters and Off, as well as Teenage Jesus and the Jerks, The Jesus Lizard, Sonic Youth and Circle Jerks all make the list. It’s not hard to hear why.
This four-tracker is noisy, spiky and raw. And yes, by raw, I mean it’s as rough as hell. The band are tight, but it sounds like it was recorded in, oh, 14 minutes and 44 seconds. But that’s all part of what makes this true punk.
The awkward, slightly flat vocals perched a shade high in the mix chant and sneer over clattering drums and driving guitars. The simple riffs are repetitive, angular and gritty. It all adds up to an explosive bile-spitting lo-fi punk racket, and if it had been pressed up as a 7” single in 1979 it would be a cult classic by now.
