Review: 'MELODRAMAS'
'Kids (EP)'

-  Label: 'Jelly Maid Music'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '5th March 2012'-  Catalogue No: 'JMMCD017'

Our Rating:
Melodramas are four likely lads who brazenly rip off Brit-pop favourites like Suede, Artic Monkeys, Pulp and , most specifically, Supergrass. They've even hooked with Gaz Coombes for one of the four songs and recruited one time Supergrass producer Sam Williams.

They tear into the four tunes in a frenzied all hands to the pump fashion.

The title track makes a convincing pitch to the be the theme tune for a 'horror in the neighbourhood' B-movie . Elephant has some all the fun of the fair musical motifs. Beetlejuice is the one with the Gaz connection and Three Crosses winds up with a Lovecats style swagger.

All very old hat of course but , as it's delivered with the right amount of surly arrogance and wry wit, they look set to win friends and influence people, particularly if they can recreate the same energy live.
