Our Rating:
This is merely a review for the lead single ‘Feel It Up’ from the EP and it’s a summery affair, if we ever have one that is.

The first thing to say is I am sure this single would go quite well on 6Music. No surprise then that it has already been picked up by them. It does, in fact, sound like a lot of new bands on that particular channel. If you switch it on anytime and listen in for an hour you will hear a song or a band like this. It’s hard to know who to blame for this and it’s an age old story.
‘Indie’ band has huge crossover success (let’s say Vampire Weekend for argument's sake) and then majors and minors all chase their tail trying to replicate this success in ever diminishing circles. The sound in question here is afro polyrhythmical pop and it seems to have been around an awful long time this time. But let’s not forget that Vampire Weekend also look good on the catwalk!

The guitar bass and drums on this track in particular have that sound and they do flow particularly well together. It would be interesting to hear them cutting loose on a whole different type of song to see how tight they really are. On top of this we have male lead vocals and higher backing vocals. The backing vocals do not really add anything to the song for me but they are pleasant enough. The great strength of this song is the chorus. It gives it the feel of a pop hit. Yes, it’s catchy and pumped up in the right way and am sure with the support they already have and the right kind of airplay they could have a hit on the hands. I sincerely hope they do, but I equally hope the sun comes out to accompany their success.
