A collaboration between purveyors of psychedelic pop, Flipron, and Special front man Neville Staple, the press release describes ‘The Comet Returns’ as having ‘a 2-Tone meets Spaghetti Western feel’. And indeed it does. What’s more, it actually works. With a reverby guitar, dubby bass and loping ska rhythm, it has the vintage – not to mention classic – vibe that means it can sit alongside ‘Ghost Town’ and ‘Mirror in the Bathroom’ without any embarrassment.
