Review: 'Almeida, Kirsty'
'Winter Songs'

-  Album: 'Winter Songs' -  Label: 'All Made Up Records'
-  Genre: 'Pop' -  Release Date: 'November 2012'

Our Rating:
The first – and last – time I heard of Kirsty Almeida was in 2010. She was due to release her debut single with much fanfare and the backing of Decca. She was set for big things. The only trouble was, I struggled to raise so much as a shrug of indifference to her bland fare, and judging by her subsequent lack of stardom, for once my response gauged the general public’s reaction (or lack thereof).

Now Kirsty’s back with ‘Winter Songs’, a collection of 10 songs that reflect ‘both the magic and darkness the season brings’. By which you can read ‘a bunch of Christmas songs and some filler about snow and shit’. Do we really need an insipid cover of ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’? That’s rhetorical, of course.

Pointless, needless and dull, I can’t even think who this might appeal to.
