Review: 'BLOOD RED SHOES'
'HEARTSINK'

-  Label: 'V2'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '16th August 2010'

Our Rating:
 New single no 14
At one time, you could hardly move down the corridor for aspiring singer/ songwriters. These days you're elbowing guitar and drums duos out of the way. There are times when, in spite of yourself, you can't help feeling The White Stripes have a lot to answer for, no matter how many projects Jack White starts up to cover his tracks.

Still, Brighton's BLOOD RED SHOES do their back to basics sonic invective thang well enough. Their new single 'Heartsink' (sic) comes from their recent second album and was proudly recorded on good ol' analogue at Liverpool's Motor Museum studio. It's a feckin' enjoyable racket an' all: hard, heavy and heat-seeking with Steven Ansell's anarchic, disco hi-hats heroically holding it all together.

They potentially write their own review with the chorus of “we've heard it all ten thousand times before” and in truth there really is nothing new here. However, the energy's contagious and over 2 mins 45 Blood Red Shoes ride out the whole caboodle decently enough.
